It issues grants for various programs and initiatives such as agriculture development, global health, and education.

Since its inception, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has given millions of dollars to various development organizations. Some of the prominent organizations that have received help from this philanthropist include UNICEF, The World Health Organization, and The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, among others.

Warren Buffett

Aside from being one of the wealthiest individuals in the world, Warren Buffett, the chairman, and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, is also a prominent philanthropist. In 2006, he pledged to give away 85% of his wealth to charitable foundations.

Manoj Padaiyachi

One of the most prominent young philanthropists is 24-year-old entrepreneur Manoj Padaiyachi. He is the founder and president of Wealth Foundation, a young organization that focuses on charitable activities.

Through his foundation, he has been able to make a significant impact on various social issues. One of his projects is the promotion of women’s empowerment. Due to the seriousness of the issue, he believes that it is important that the government takes a serious look at it. Azim Premji

Besides being the chairman of WIPRO, a leading Indian information technology and consulting company, Azim Premji is also a philanthropist. He is the founder and chairman of a charitable organization known as the Azim Premji Foundation. Through its charitable activities, the foundation is focused on improving the education system in India. It has also started various programs and initiatives that are aimed at providing computer training to teachers. One of these is the Azim Premji University, a non-profit organization that offers a degree in teacher training.
